Lead the production operation. Shape the future. Make it happen.
Metador is a growing manufacturing business with ambitious plans, and we are looking for an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of our full end-to-end production operation.
This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone who wants more than a maintenance role. You will be joining a business that is scaling, improving and professionalising its operational capability — and you will have real influence over how production is structured, managed and improved.
Based at our integrated Middlesbrough manufacturing site, you will lead the production teams responsible for CNC, fabrication, internal logistics, powder coating and final assembly, with responsibility for over 70 production colleagues across the operation.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a Production Manager who can bring structure, accountability, pace and strong leadership to a busy manufacturing environment.
What you’ll be doing
As Production Manager, you will:
- Lead multiple production departments across CNC, fabrication, internal logistics, powder coating and final assembly.
- Manage production delivery in line with planning schedules and business priorities.
- Drive OTIF performance, output against plan, labour efficiency and productivity.
- Identify and remove bottlenecks across the manufacturing process.
- Build a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability and performance.
- Improve quality performance by reducing rework, scrap, defects and customer-reported issues.
- Maintain a safety-first culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed across production.
- Use production data, KPIs and lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Planning, Purchasing, Stores and Customer Service to ensure production is aligned, materials are available, and customer issues are resolved effectively.
- Provide clear reporting and performance updates to the Head of Operations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
