Location: Carrington Training Centre/Old Trafford

The Role

The Production Manager will be the main point of contact for Amazon, providing the MUFC oversight for planning, coordination and delivery of a documentary project from development through to final delivery. The role is responsible for keeping the project on schedule, aligned with editorial, production, legal, compliance and stakeholder requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the production company, help develop and manage the overall project plan, timeline, milestones and production schedule.
  • Coordinate across producers, directors, researchers, editors, contributors, commissioners, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Track budgets, raise purchase requests, monitor spend and flag financial risks early.
  • Working with the production company, manage logistics for filming, including access, travel, locations, crew availability, equipment, call sheets and production paperwork.
  • Maintain project documentation, including risk registers, action logs, schedules, contracts, releases and delivery trackers.
  • Support compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, data protection, copyright, contributor consent and broadcaster or platform requirements.
  • Identify project risks, dependencies and blockers, proposing practical solutions to keep delivery on track.
  • Represent MUFC in regular production meetings, contributing to and preparing agendas, capture actions and ensure follow-up across teams.
  • Support with post-production workflows, including edit schedules, review rounds, approvals, any MUFC rights clearances and final deliverables.
  • Working with the PL and other rights holders to manage compliance and reciprocity agreements
  • Act as a central point of contact, ensuring clear communication between comms, editorial, production, football and other teams.
  • Supporting go to market plans with marketing support around hype and launch periods

The Person

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience managing film, television, documentary, branded content or complex media projects.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows from development and filming through to post-production and delivery.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and stakeholders.
  • Confident budget tracking and cost-control skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex information clearly.
  • Calm, proactive and solutions-focused approach under pressure.
  • Experience managing contributors, access, permissions, releases or sensitive subject matter is desirable.
  • Knowledge of UK production standards, compliance, copyright, data protection and health and safety requirements is desirable.
  • Competence with project management, scheduling and collaboration tools.

Working Relationships

The Production Manager will work closely with the Executive Producer, Producer, Director, Production Manager, Editor, legal, football and compliance teams, finance, communications, external suppliers and any commissioning or distribution partners.

Key Deliverables

  • Approved project plan, timeline and production schedule.
  • Accurate budget tracker and regular project status updates.
  • Complete production documentation, including contributor, location and supplier records.
  • Clear risk, issue and dependency tracking throughout the project.
  • On-time coordination of rough cuts, review stages, final approvals and delivery materials.
