Company Description

Micron Semiconductor Ltd is a specialist manufacturer and global supplier of silicon- and diamond-based radiation sensors used in demanding environments. The company develops custom-designed products for applications such as space exploration and communication, medical imaging, high energy physics research, and the energy, defence, and civil nuclear sectors. Its consultancy and design services help clients translate complex ideas and constraints into practical, high-performance sensor solutions. With a modular production line, Micron Semiconductor can rapidly adapt to varied requirements and fulfill both bespoke and small-quantity orders, including design of PCBs and connectivity for system integration. Team members collaborate closely with a specialist group of engineers and scientists to support advanced technological projects worldwide.

Role Description

The Production Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Lancing. The Production Manager oversees day-to-day manufacturing operations for radiation sensor products, ensuring production targets are met safely, on time, and to quality standards. Key tasks include:

The role involves collaborating with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams, managing production documentation and compliance requirements, and providing clear leadership and guidance to production staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong production management skills, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of manufacturing activities.
  • Experience with process improvement, lean manufacturing, or similar methodologies to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Knowledge of electronics or semiconductor manufacturing, radiation sensors, or related high-technology production environments (preferred).
  • Proficiency in using production management tools, ERP/MRP systems, and basic data analysis for performance tracking.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience supervising teams and fostering a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Understanding of quality control, regulatory compliance, and documentation requirements in manufacturing settings.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and supply chain.
  • Relevant technical or engineering qualification, or equivalent experience in manufacturing or production management.
