Location - Site based in Derby
Job Purpose:
The Production Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for Quadralene’s manufacturing activities. The role ensures that all production operations are performed safely, efficiently and in compliance with quality, environmental and customer standards. The Production Manager develops people and processes to achieve operational excellence, continuous improvement and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Plan, organise and oversee all daily production operations to achieve quality, cost and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Planner to convert forecasts and sales orders into achievable production schedules.
- Lead, coach and develop production team, promoting a culture of ownership, accountability and safety.
- Monitor production KPIs (yield, efficiency, labour utilisation, waste level) and act decisively on deviations.
- Implement approved continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and optimise performance.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation (Risk Assessment, COSHH, REACH compliance, waste handling, PPE).
- Partner with Quality and Maintenance to ensure robust process control, minimal downtime and consistent product quality.
- Support product launches, trials and process changes in collaboration with R&D and Technical teams.
- Manage production resources effectively to meet demand while maintaining efficiency and employee engagement.
- Contribute to departmental budgeting, cost control and capital project planning.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing or related discipline (or equivalent).
- Significant experience managing production teams in chemical or batch-process industries.
- Demonstrated people leadership and change management capability.
- Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement tools.
- Understanding of process control, quality assurance and safety management systems.
- Excellent communication, planning and analytical skills.
- ERP/MRP system experience (Microsoft Business Central or SAP will be advantage)

- Kaizen or Six Sigma Certificate
- Background in chemical, healthcare or regulated industries.
- Experience in a multi-site or group organisation
- Working knowledge of ISO14001/ISO45001
