About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established steel company based in Walsall for a Production Operative to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role within a busy production environment, involving the handling and processing of steel products. The position will suit someone who is comfortable with physical work and enjoys working as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading steel bars into production machinery
- Operating machinery safely and efficiently
- Using overhead cranes to move materials (where authorised)
- Handling steel products throughout the production process
- Carrying out manual handling duties
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Following all health and safety procedures

Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working within a steel, metal, manufacturing, or production environment is preferred
- Experience handling steel products would be advantageous
- An overhead crane licence would be highly beneficial
- Comfortable carrying out manual handling and physical duties
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Able to work effectively within a team environment

Holiday Entitlement
Employees receive 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. Due to the company's Christmas and New Year shutdown period, sufficient holiday entitlement must be retained to cover this break. Holiday requests during December are generally not approved unless under exceptional circumstances due to business requirements.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm
Breaks
- 15-minute paid morning break
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
