Position Title: Production Operative

Hours: 48 hours per week – 12 hours – working days and nights on a weekly rotating pattern (Monday to Thursday – 6am to 6pm/Monday to Friday 6pm to 6am)

Location: Ashton Under Lyne

Description:

We’re looking for a reliable and proactive Production Operative to support the smooth and efficient running of our manufacturing operations. Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll play an important role in keeping production moving, identifying and resolving issues early, and ensuring high standards of quality and performance are maintained throughout the shift. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a good understanding of production processes are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the continuous running of the machines in the manufacturing unit so that targets are achieved
  • Conduct first line fault finding when there are operational issues and resolve faults efficiently
  • Report any unplanned down time to the Cell Leader
  • Report any planning / material issues to the Cell Leader
  • Understand where the line/machine is against plan
  • Be thorough and check work to minimise any rework
  • Complete routine maintenance of equipment
  • Complete quality testing of products
  • Ensure a full and comprehensive shift handover is completed
  • Ensure all data systems are completed accurately and timely
  • Assist in training team members
  • Participating positively and fully in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring effective communication with your team, Shift Operations Managers and the wider manufacturing team
  • Keeping a clean and safe work area and working safely
  • Report any safety opportunities to Cell Leader
  • Following all Company procedures
  • Working in any area of the manufacturing unit

Qualifications:

Required

  • MRP experience/knowledge (desirable)
  • NVQ Level 2 – Performing Manufacturing Operations/Continuous Improvement 5S Six Sigma (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic mechanical understanding
  • Works well in a team but is able to work on own initiative
  • Respectful towards all colleagues
  • Continuously improves both process and themselves
  • Willing to take personal feedback in order to improve
  • High standards of safety, cleanliness and quality
  • Good fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Has a flexible and positive approach to work
  • Communicates well
  • Customer focused
