Production Operative
Production Operative – Role Description
This role works within any area of Operations, supporting both project and production workflows as needed to align with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
(A non-exhaustive list)
- Achieve safety excellence: Ensure your safety and that of your team is always top priority.
- Compliance with health & safety: Follow defined health and safety policies and actively support safety-led initiatives.
- Mechanical assembly: Produce high-quality assemblies of metalwork.
- Component assembly: Build and prepare product sub-assemblies and mechanical/electrical parts.
- Wiring and termination: Safely prepare and secure wiring according to technical specifications.
- Technical reading: Interpret Electrical Schematic Drawings to guide assembly and installation work.
- Process adherence: Work within defined standard work procedures.
- Packaging & logistics: Efficiently pack equipment as instructed, utilising best methods.
- Quality & standards: Maintain compliance with all quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement (CI): Proactively engage in and support continual improvement initiatives.
- Versatility & flexibility: Handle any required reasonable duty linked to business needs.
- Sub-assembly creation: Construct key sub-assemblies for final production.
- Material inspection: Inspect parts prior to use in manufacturing to ensure quality and safety.
- Production challenges: Maintain a flexible attitude in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Deadlines: Meet strict timeframes and work under pressure.
- Team collaboration: Operate effectively and efficiently as part of a dynamic team.
- Workspace safety & tidiness: Keep the working area clean, organised and hazard-free.
- PPE compliance: Always adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and dress code requirements.

Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
Industrial & Practical Skills
- Proven experience in electrical and mechanical assembly within a manufacturing/production setting.
- Proficiency in working from electrical schematic drawings.
- Practical experience with a variety of hand, power and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to maintain high attention to detail under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Experience working independently and with initiative when needed.
Software & Digital Proficiency
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Office systems.
- Familiarity with different manufacturing or production software.
Personality & Workforce Traits
- Focus and concentration: Unwavering attention to detail over extended periods.
- Operational flexibility: Willingness to adapt and fulfil evolving tasks in a busy environment.
- Team collaboration: Ability to thrive within a team environment while also working autonomously.
