Role Description
To carry out all machine operator functions on a filler in a safe manner to produce the specified quality of finished cartons whilst minimising waste and maximising machine efficiency. Carrying out and documenting routine checks and tests to a defined schedule.
Working as a member of a production team within the overall Production department.
The role involves three shift working.
Performance measures are determined by the ability to carry out the duties listed below.
Role Requirements
- Ensure that the filler manual clean, C.I.P. and sterilisation are carried out correctly.
- Ensure that all filler cleaning, pre-production, safety and production checks are carried out and documented correctly.
- Ensure the smooth running of the filler at optimum efficiency, whilst maintaining a safe operating environment and minimising wastage.
- Ensure that the correct packaging is being used and the carton coding is correct.
- Liaise with the Team Leader as to the relevant issues and problems as they occur.
- Liaise with the Team Leader regarding the production plan ensuring the Servicer and Supplier are aware of the plan.
- Ensure that the machine operators maintenance is carried out correctly and any problems reported.
- Contribute to the health and safety of self and others by applying health and safety principles to the required standards whilst undertaking designated tasks and report any accidents/near misses/damages to the Shift Manager and Team Leader.
- Ensure the Filler area is kept clean in accordance with the “clean as you go” policy.
- Minimise wastage reporting any major spillages or material losses to the Production Team Leader.
- Ensure issued PPE is worn when required and stored correctly when not in use.
- Perform any other duties as required by the Production Management team.

The Job Holder Should:
- Be deemed proficient by the Team Leader in cleaning, operating and carrying out operator maintenance of the filler.
- Be able to operate all packaging equipment on the filling line.
- Be literate and numerate so that checks can be carried out and recorded accurately and legibly.
- Have received basic food hygiene training.
- Be aware of emergency procedures.
- Be aware of safety implications of hazardous materials used and the precautions necessary for their use.
- Be aware of correct PPE usage and storage.
- Be aware of company policy regarding; Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety and Personal Hygiene.
- Have received manual handling training.
