Service Operator
[Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd] is looking to recruit to the Service department a Service Operator to contribute to delivering company growth goals. This is a local role reporting to the Team Leader.
Company location: Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd, 172 Brook Drive, Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 4SD.

The Role: Service Operator
As a member of our Service Team, your work will combine maintenance and servicing of lifesaving equipment. You’ll assist Quality Service to our Customers while performing routine tasks and calibrations on a variety of gas detection devices in line with company procedures.
The team structure includes:
- Manufacturing Manager
- Team Leader
- Cell Leader
- Service, Repairs and Warranty team
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain high safety awareness and standards in all daily tasks, actively reporting near misses.
- Conduct routine servicing and calibration on both Portable and Fixed Gas Detection Devices.
- Investigate and diagnose the root cause of any equipment failures.
- Log warranty and non-warranty fault codes.
- Support Production where required.
- Attend daily team shift meetings.
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement Activities to identify operational efficiencies.
- Maintain production area as part of the 5S programme.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of tooling and calibration equipment.
- Exhibit flexibility to adapt and improve job knowledge.
- Complete and submit all Batch Records and supporting documentation error-free.
- Provide guidance to Trainee Operators to support their growth.
- Proactively adapt to fluctuating work demands.
- Monitor product shelf lives.

Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
Essential
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to follow instructions clearly
Desirable
- 2 years’ experience in manufacturing/assembly.
- Awareness of lean and continuous improvement methodology.
