Production Operator - Meat Slicing
Meat Slicing Production Operator – Wiltshire Farm Foods (apetito)
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 0600–1400)
Location: [Implied – Meals department]
About the Role
The Meals department values outstanding teamwork and is looking for candidates who embody a positive, “can do” attitude while being eager to upskill. By applying this mindset, you’ll contribute to the production of high-quality products efficiently, exceeding targets.
This is a fast-paced production role where you’ll operate meat slicing machinery to batch weight specifications in a safety-certified, hygienic environment.
Salary: £14.09/hour + bonus potential, along with an appealing benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

Meat Slicing:
- Set up and safely operate meat slicers at production speeds
- Prepare meat (e.g., collection, pre-slicing checks)
- Ensure batch weights and portion counts are accurate (right first time)
- Fill out relevant documentation

Production Flow & Cleaning:
- Channel wash and set up slicers for overalls/changes
- Follow clean-as-you-go policies and hygiene practices
- Perform end-of-shift clean-downs and waste segregation (food waste, packaging, etc.)
- Minimise waste through efficient operational standards

Quality Assurance:
- Handling deviations? Stop production if inconsistencies become apparent
- Flag quality concerns to the production supervisor or fill card protocols
- Adhere to dietary and portion-specific checkboxes

Compliance & Safety:
- Undertake Basic Food Hygiene training (pass required) and Level 2 Food Safety.
- Comply with personal hygiene (handwashing, protective gear)
- Report accidents, incidents, and near-misses immediately
- Contribute to risk assessments when requested
- Work safely at all times (moving parts, PPE where necessary)

- Play your part in environmental sustainability by maximising waste recycling and reducing spoilage.
Essential Requirements
✅ Experience working to set standards/KPIs ✅ Proficient in English and Maths (standard, as per FGAs) ✅ Production environment knowledge (either food industry or similar) ✅ Pass obligation: Level 2 Food Safety training
Desirable Attributes
🔹 A basic understanding of food safety (Level 2 certificate) 🔹 Exposure to portion control or precision batch processing
