Production Planner – Saab UK

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Planner to support the development and implementation of production plans. You will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth, efficient production of high-tech products with cross-functional teams, balancing materials, resources, and supply chains to achieve production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting daily planning tasks, coordinating with production, procurement, logistics, and engineering
- Developing and maintaining production schedules and coordinating shop orders (release to production/stores)
- Handling NCR requests and shop floor re-work tickets
- Managing material demand based on production requirements
- Ensuring timely availability of materials and shop orders across teams
- Simplifying production planning communication (updates and challenges)
- Inventory Support
- Monitoring inventory levels to optimize production costs
- Conducting regular stock analysis to identify and address slow-moving/obsolete materials
- Resolving discrepancies with the stores team
- Continuous Improvement
- Adhering to a controlled shop order release aligned with production capacity
- Identifying process improvements and cost/demand savings
- Supporting initiatives for production plan enhancements
- Commitment to workforce screening (security vetting, reference checks, etc.)

Minimum Requirements
- Proven manufacturing experience (preferably in electrical assembly)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork
- Hands-on experience with ERP and MRP systems
- Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
