Role Overview

As the Production Planner, you’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating production schedules and production orders to optimise resource usage and ensure timely project delivery. Collaboration with Build, Production Engineering, Supply Chain, and other departments is key to balancing demand and capacity, aligning production plans with project timelines.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Managing workflow through the shop floor by scheduling production orders based on resource availability, parts supply, and build schedules.
  • Ensuring smooth transitions from development builds to production.
  • Continuously refining planning processes to optimise efficiency and drive continuous improvement.

The role demands agility due to the company’s rapid development cycles, requiring a structured yet adaptable approach.


Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Use project plans (in Jira/MS Project) to schedule production work packages.
  • Operate the MRP system (Infor LN) to create and manage production orders.
  • Resource allocation for production plans.
  • Coordinating with:
    • Production teams to assess resource availability and order completion.
    • Supply Chain to evaluate materials availability.
    • Production Engineering to review production readiness.
  • Attending cross-functional meetings to prioritise build requirements.
  • Editing and updating BOMs, routings, and planned completion dates via Infor LN.
  • Supporting the transition from development builds to production.
  • Collaborating with Production Engineering and Operations to improve planning and efficiency.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

✅ Confidence using MRP systems (e.g., Infor LN). ✅ Experience with production planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira). ✅ Background in complex manufacturing environments. ✅ Strong understanding of design, engineering, and manufacturing terminology. ✅ High PC literacy with proficient use of Microsoft Office. ✅ Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications

🔹 Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or similar roles. 🔹 Familiarity with Infor LN (MRP) and JIRA. 🔹 Experience reviewing engineering drawings. 🔹 CAD software knowledge. 🔹 Industry-specific experience in marine manufacturing, composites, aerospace, or automotive.

⚠️ Due to project requirements, candidates must be capable of meeting security standards, including:

  • Right to live and work in the UK.
  • BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) required for some roles – UK National Security Clearance may be mandatory.
