Production Planner

Manufacturing Planner

The Role

You will be the point of contact in the business for planning the manufacture of our products.

  • Liaise with cross-departmental stakeholders to understand manufacturing needs
  • Undertake materials planning and ensure materials reach production on time
  • Manage work in progress, inventory usage, stock takes, and document issuance for the production team

Primary Job Purpose

  • Ensure all customer product orders are realised with On-Time Delivery In Full
  • Plan workload, materials, and tooling for all build demands
  • Raise external requirements for subcontractors and suppliers
  • Liaise with Sales and Programme Management to ensure production plans are aligned
  • Liaise with Supply Chain and Engineering for materials planning

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and review MRP recommendations before order placement
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure timely purchase requisitions and on-time deliveries
  • Monitor job status with production and procurement teams
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Support and Project Management teams for updates on stock, orders, and improvements
  • Work with Engineering teams to maintain system compliance with change notices
  • Liaise with Finance for end-of-month cycle counting, WIP reporting, and material audits
  • Identify and support improvements in MRP material planning
  • Provide support on MRP-related issues and timely replenishment of consumables
  • Ensure full compliance with Roke’s policies and procedures
  • Act as a backup for the Manufacturing Manager when required

Health, Safety and Environment

Your responsibilities include:

  • Practising reasonable care for your health and safety, and that of others affected by work
  • Following Company Health & Safety policies and reporting risks immediately
  • Using equipment safely and informing your manager of any hazards
  • Adhering to HS&E procedures and reporting environmental impacts

All employees must prioritise safety and work collaboratively with their line manager to maintain these standards.


Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree qualification (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • Relevant A-Levels (or equivalent) in STEM or engineering-based subjects
  • Strong computer literacy

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience as a planner in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with MRP tools (e.g., SAP or IFS – advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Tools and Techniques
  • Managing a small/medium manufacturing team (advantageous)
