Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator
Alexander Steele Recruitment is partnering with a successful and expanding food manufacturing business to appoint a Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys working across planning, purchasing, and operations. You'll play an important role in ensuring:
- Production schedules are supported
- Materials are available when required
- Supplier performance helps keep operations running efficiently
What You’ll Be Doing
No two days are the same, but your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the ordering of raw materials and packaging to support production requirements
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of production schedules to meet customer demand
- Building strong relationships with suppliers to monitor deliveries and resolve supply issues
- Maintaining accurate planning data, purchase orders, and ERP system information
- Identifying material shortages, stock risks, and potential supply challenges before they impact production
- Supporting import and customs administration where required
- Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Quality, and Customer Service teams to ensure plans remain achievable
- Producing planning reports and maintaining key operational trackers
- Ensuring purchasing documentation and supplier information is accurate and up to date

What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate should ideally have:
- Previous experience in production planning, purchasing, materials planning, or supply chain coordination
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the food or FMCG sector
- ERP/MRP system proficiency, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
- A proactive approach with the confidence to communicate across multiple departments
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse information to support operational decisions
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy
