Production planning & Purchasing Coordinator

Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator

Alexander Steele Recruitment is partnering with a successful and expanding food manufacturing business to appoint a Production Planning & Purchasing Coordinator.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys working across planning, purchasing, and operations. You'll play an important role in ensuring:

  • Production schedules are supported
  • Materials are available when required
  • Supplier performance helps keep operations running efficiently

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are the same, but your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the ordering of raw materials and packaging to support production requirements
  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of production schedules to meet customer demand
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers to monitor deliveries and resolve supply issues
  • Maintaining accurate planning data, purchase orders, and ERP system information
  • Identifying material shortages, stock risks, and potential supply challenges before they impact production
  • Supporting import and customs administration where required
  • Working closely with Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Quality, and Customer Service teams to ensure plans remain achievable
  • Producing planning reports and maintaining key operational trackers
  • Ensuring purchasing documentation and supplier information is accurate and up to date

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate should ideally have:

  • Previous experience in production planning, purchasing, materials planning, or supply chain coordination
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the food or FMCG sector
  • ERP/MRP system proficiency, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to communicate across multiple departments
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse information to support operational decisions
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy
