Ensuring production quality standards are met & maintained - performing inspections, identifying defects and advising on corrective actions. While managing the flow of materials to Production, ensuring quality products are delivered to consumers on time, minimising waste and rework, where possible.
Day-to-day operations
- In-Process Quality Control: Monitoring production processes to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and identifying defects early, rather than just at the end.
- Final Inspection: Performing final checks on finished products for functionality, safety, appearance, and packaging compliance before they are released to the store for shipment.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identifying, documenting, and isolating (quarantining) defective products to prevent them from being shipped, and initiating root cause analysis.
- Calibration and Documentation: Maintaining and calibrating measuring equipment and keeping accurate records of tests to ensure traceability.
- Process Improvement Feedback: Communicating with production teams to fix issues at the source, rather than simply reacting to defects.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
