What You Will Do
The Production Specialist ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a diverse range of automated and manual machinery. This role blends technical expertise with a strong focus on quality and safety, making you a key troubleshooter, advocate, and mentor to operators.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations
- Operate, set up, and optimise automated and non-automated machinery, including:
- Robotic machines
- Guillotines
- Flow wrappers
- Strip cutters/bottle machines
- Rotary guillotines
- Label printers
- Dispensing equipment
- Saturating machinery
- Emerging technologies
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues to minimise downtime.
- Conduct first-line maintenance, including:
- Cleaning and lubrication
- Minor adjustments
- Component changeovers
- Adjust production processes to maintain throughput and product conformance.

Quality & Compliance
- Conduct and accurately document product inspections following SOPs and quality standards.
- Escalate and support resolution of non-conformances, deviations, and quality concerns.
- Ensure full compliance with GMP, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
- Foster a strong safety culture by:
- Acting as a role model for safe behaviours
- Identifying hazards and conducting point-of-use safety checks
- Proactively addressing unsafe conditions
- Supporting safety incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in root cause analysis, problem-solving events, and process improvements.
- Provide data-driven suggestions to enhance reliability, efficiency, and process capability.
- Assist with implementation and validation of new equipment and process changes.

Training & Team Support
- Provide technical training to operators, including:
- Safe and efficient machine operation
- On-the-job demonstrations
- Support training plans and documentation updates.
- Lead by example in 5S workplace organisation.
- Deputise for the Production Supervisor when needed, ensuring production control, communication, and standards adherence.
What You Will Need
- GCSE-level education or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating production or automated machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, and quality documentation.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
- Logical problem-solving approach to operate equipment effectively.
