Production Supervision Manager

Manufacturing Plant Manager

About the Role

Lead the manufacturing function within budget and output targets to ensure customer requirements and operational standards are consistently met.

  • Full accountability for safety, quality, cost and delivery performance.
  • Develop and drive an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team, fostering strong working relationships aligned with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Champion best practice in manufacturing, mentoring teams, establishing policies and procedures, and embedding continuous improvement principles.
  • Apply modern manufacturing best practices by identifying deficiencies and improving training, processes, and operational efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategy and Development

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of a manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to enhance operational performance.
  • Identify and deliver business improvement opportunities across the organisation.

General and Task Management

  • Oversee plant production, financial performance, and adherence to customer requirements.
  • Ensure the orderly, productive operation of planned activities while maintaining quality standards.
  • Meet daily productivity targets and maintain a rigorous production planning regime:
    • Review and update the production plan daily.
    • Drive improvements in departmental KPIs.
    • Develop and implement process risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies, protecting staff and site visitors.
  • Identify training needs and implement gap-filling plans to address skill shortages.

People Management

  • Deliver the People Strategy within the area of accountability.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team that meets business KPIs, achieves Hoshin Kanri goals, and drives continuous improvement.
  • Set, track and assess departmental objectives/KPIs:
    • Report progress against targets and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of team performance, including:
    • Staffing levels, holiday allowances, recruitment, training development, appraisals, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
    • Daily supervision to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Communicate KPI goals from the strategic annual plan to ensure alignment across the team.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for each area of responsibility.

Financial and Budget Management

  • Accountable for manufacturing budgets, including planning and oversight of:
    • Annual budget forecasting and capital expenditure proposals.
    • All legal standard compliance elements.
  • Manage projects from concept through delivery, ensuring budget and forecast targets are met.

Requirements

Skils and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, team-building, planning, and decision-making.
  • Experienced in leadership and people management.
  • Technical understanding of:
    • Assembly processes, components, and manufacturing techniques.
    • SAP/ERP systems.
    • Lean manufacturing, daily operational tools, and MPS (Master Production Scheduling).
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Budgeting and financial planning.
    • Strategic deployment (e.g., Hoshin Kanri).
    • CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) and P&L (Profit & Loss).

Qualifications:

  • Permanent UK work permit.
