Company Description

Hughes Group is a long-established agri-food business and one of the largest processors of mushrooms in Northern Ireland, operating for over 50 years from the historic Trew & Moy Railway Station site. In 2017, the company expanded with a state-of-the-art mushroom growing and processing facility in Yorkshire, reflecting significant ongoing investment and growth. Hughes Group has also developed new factory space near its headquarters to support a dedicated New Product Development team, offering a portfolio of vegan products under leading supermarket own labels. The business combines a rich history with strong ambition, innovation, and a committed team, creating a dynamic environment and promising future for employees.

Role Description

The Production Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Holme-on-Spalding Moor. This position oversees day-to-day production activities, ensuring that production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The role includes organizing and monitoring work on the production floor, coordinating resources, and supporting team members to achieve performance targets. The Production Supervisor communicates clearly with operations, quality, and maintenance teams, addresses issues as they arise, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. The role also involves maintaining accurate production records, promoting health and safety, and helping implement best practices in production management. Weekend working is compulsory for this role.

  • Strong supervisory skills, with experience leading and motivating production teams.
  • Ability to manage production schedules and contribute to effective production planning.
  • Knowledge of production management principles, including workflow, efficiency, and quality control.
  • Clear and professional communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and reporting to management.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or a similar high-volume production environment is beneficial.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and hygiene standards in a manufacturing setting.
  • Capability to use basic production and reporting systems; familiarity with ERP or MES tools is an advantage.
  • Relevant vocational qualification or degree in production, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
