Production Support Engineer
Join our busy production and site engineering department for a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Production Support Engineer.
Our engineering team at Barfoots is pivotal to our success. We work closely with production to ensure minimum downtime and maintain the highest levels of quality and customer service, through effective pre-planned and reactive maintenance of the production plant, services, and facilities.
You’ll bring an electrical or mechanical bias, with proven experience in fault diagnosis, reactive maintenance, and route cause analysis within a busy, dynamic processing or FMCG environment. Your strong communication and teamwork skills will enable you to work collaboratively with the engineering team, supporting plant productivity and efficiency while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a day shift-based role: 4 days on, 4 days off (6am–6pm).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance tasks
- Rectify factory machinery breakdowns, following best practice for health & safety and hygiene
- Conduct fault diagnosis and root cause analysis (RCAs)
- Ensure maximum equipment uptime and availability
- Follow and improve month-on-month PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) schedules
- Engage in reactive and proactive electrical and mechanical maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of all engineering activities, spare parts used, and requested parts
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standard
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Completion of a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in engineering
- Ability to quickly identify and efficiently resolve mechanical and/or electrical faults
- Effective communication skills
- Initiative to prioritise workloads
- Troubleshooting electrical control panels (strongly advised)

Desirable Skills/Experience
- Experience working with inverters and PLC systems
- Enhancement of route cause analysis (RCAs)
- Development of PPM (preventative maintenance schedules)
- Exposure to working within an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or fresh food manufacturing environment
