What We Are Looking For
A Production Technician Supervisor to serve the packhouse with graded product of the correct quality whilst running/maintaining the grading facility, staff, and associated processes. Ownership and accountability to ensure the graders are optimised and ran as efficiently as possible to meet the raw material quality standards of the business.
The Position
- Optimise conformance of graded product to the internal quality and customer standards for supply into the packhouse or processing facility.
- Oversee the smooth running of the NIR Grader primarily, Grader 1 and Grader 2 if necessary.
- Conduct daily ZOHO checks, investigating and resolving incomplete actions.
- Ensure all labelled stock has been placed in stores and foamed up if required.
- Reporting absence to the Grader Manager and ensuring all return-to-work forms are completed as required on the same day as the employees return date.
- Assist the Grader Manager in achieving the best possible quality of the product coming off the grader.
- Monitor the output against predicted grading plan and advise of under or over plan.
- Maintaining and updating ‘production record’ sheet and any other relevant paperwork.
- Root cause analysis of all breakdowns with a plan of action.
- Identify areas for improvement in the grading process.
- Working closely with other departments to address challenges and streamline processes.
- Monitor efficiency of staff within your area and identify any training requirements.
- Use all available information, i.e., line performance information, downtime information etc. to help motivate and improve the team performance.
- Ensure all areas are clean and tidy at the end of production, and all products are correctly and clearly labelled, adhering to the ‘clean as you go’ policy.
- Ensure staff are fully trained and that they work effectively, efficiently and follow all Health & Safety rules as set out by the company. Maintain training records and carry out competency assessments.
- Be the main point of contact for communication both verbally and in writing between the shifts, ensuring a full handover is provided.
- Actively monitor productivity on the grading line and ensure the line is operating as efficiently as possible, escalate to Grader Operations Supervisor if the grader target is not being met.
- Take ownership and be accountable of the product quality by actively undertaking quality control inspections, continually monitor and react to product quality throughout the grading.
- Clearly and concisely communicate quality issues with other internal departments and ensure action is taken promptly to ensure timely resolution and aid the raw material escalation decision making process.
- Ensure that all aspects of the Linkfresh computer system are used correctly by all relevant staff.
- Provide accurate information to the gatehouse on the day production is finished to ensure complete grower returns, labour costs and throughput analysis is correct
- Attend stock meetings and be accountable for delivering on time and of the right quality.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested by your manager to ensure the overall smooth running of the business.

- Previous proven supervisory experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with good organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload as the working situation develops
- A proactive approach to work in order to meet targets and ensure the minimum of downtime
- Ability to conduct detailed checks on machinery and processing paperwork
- Able to take a practical, analytical and logical approach in situations
- Self-motivated
