Product/Quality Manager — Cambridge, UK
Palma Ceia Semi-Design (PCS) – Senior Product/Quality Engineer
About the Role Palma Ceia Semi-Design (PCS), a fast-growing fabless semiconductor company, specialises in integrated Wi-Fi and LTE solutions for the IoT marketplace. We are seeking senior-level product/quality engineers to join our Silicon Operations team in Cambridge, UK.
The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in semiconductor product NPI, qualification, and manufacturing ramp-up.
Duties and Responsibilities
Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Product Engineering
- Ensure smooth transition of products from early-stage sampling to high-volume production, meeting quality and cost expectations.
- Plan and execute qualification and reliability programs for new products, adhering to industry standards like JEDEC.
- Oversee initial ramp-to-production processes.
- Develop and implement product procedures for NPI and ramp, including documentation and workflows.
Quality Assurance
- Establish effective business systems for quality assurance, covering product qualification, pre-production launch, risk analysis, and fail-mode analysis (FA).
- Investigate and resolve product discrepancies (RMAs) and yield issues through root-cause analysis (e.g., using 8D reports).
- Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to drive corrections and improvements.
- Update and revise internal procedures to maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement.
- Guide teams toward achieving and sustaining ISO 9001 certification.

Skills and Experience
Essential Experience
- Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering (EE), or equivalent industrial experience.
- Minimum 4 years in a high-tech manufacturing environment (preferably semiconductor-related).
- Experience with quality management systems (QMS).
- Knowledge of electronic manufacturing systems, especially in semiconductor fabs.
- Deep understanding of product qualification methods, including failure analysis (FA).
- Hands-on experience with NPI processes in a fabless semiconductor environment.
- Experience collaborating with external suppliers/partners.
- Familiarity with silicon foundries and OSATs (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly/Testing).
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP or similar).
Desirable Experience
- Strong background in analog/RF and digital IC design methodologies, including circuit architectures.
- Experience with the fab tape-out process.
- Test engineering knowledge.
- Exposure to package and substrate design.
- Familiarity with BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, or nb-IoT technologies.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
