Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrator in the Postgraduate Research Service (PGR) to provide outstanding professional support to students, academics, and stakeholders related to the University’s Professional Doctorate programmes, including our clinical psychology professional doctorate—the 4th largest programme of its kind in the UK.
This role is based within the PGR Service’s Professional Doctorates Team, delivering an efficient, proactive, and high-quality service that coordinates all stages of the doctorate lifecycle, from admission to graduation.
Role Summary
- Ensure administrative excellence in managing Professional Doctorate programmes
- Provide expert support to students, academic staff, and stakeholders
- Coordinate admissions, progress monitoring, and graduation procedures
- Foster positive academic employer engagement to support programme delivery
Key Responsibilities
Programme Support & Administration
- Assist in the admissions process for Professional Doctorate students, including reviews and timely follow-up
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with course regulations
- Support student progression and milestone tracking across the programme lifecycle
- Coordinate assessments, supervisor correspondence, and programme compliance meetings

Professional Doctorate-Specific Duties
- Manage operations for the clinical psychology professional doctorate, including curriculum alignment and programme accreditation
- Collaborate with the Professional Doctorates Team to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Support Standard Setting Panels, amendments process, and accreditation requirements
- Maintain and update programme documentation, including handbooks, policies, and student communications
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement
- Deliver outstanding administrative support to students, supervisors, and academic staff
- Act as a point of contact for triaging enquiries and resolving issues efficiently
- Provide proactive feedback and guidance on programme-related queries
- Maintain strong relationships with external professional accreditation bodies
Workload & Organisation
- Handle a fast-paced, varied workload with attention to deadlines and quality
- Maintain organisational skills in a multiple-project environment
- Prioritise tasks effectively while ensuring consistency in service delivery
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Recent experience working in a professional service/academic administration role, ideally within higher education or professional doctorate programmes
- Excellent customer service Orientation, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organised, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with student administration systems
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Understanding of academic regulations, particularly relating to doctorate courses

Preferred Skills
- Previous experience working with professional doctorate programmes, particularly in psychological/clinical disciplines
- Knowledge of accreditation requirements (e.g., British Psychological Society, other professional bodies)
- Experience using database/customer relations systems for academic administration
- Awareness of ** wirstise learning and flexible study models**
Terms & Benefits
- Starting salary: From £25,249 per annum, pro-rated to £26,093 based on experience
- Full-time post from 3 August 2026, on an indefinite basis
