The Role
The Professional Services Project Engineer is a critical role, responsible for ensuring that client projects are executed to the highest standards. This position involves translating client requirements into actionable technical tasks and working towards their execution throughout the project lifecycle. This role will be primarily based around the Swindon area.
Responsibilities

Client Engagement and Requirement Analysis
- Understanding Client Needs: The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager and clients to gather detailed requirements and understand their objectives and expectations. This involves active listening and effective questioning to ensure clarity in project goals.
- Translating Client Requirements into Actionable Tasks: Once client needs are understood, the Project Engineer translates these into actionable technical tasks, ensuring that all project deliverables align with the agreed-upon specifications.

Project Execution and Coordination
- Managing Project Lifecycle: The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical execution of projects from initiation through to completion. This includes working closely with the Project Manager who coordinates tasks among team members if necessary and ensuring that all activities are progressing according to the project plan.
- Collaboration with Project Manager: The Project Engineer collaborates closely with the Project Manager regarding correct resource allocation, ensuring that the right skills are applied to each task. They address any technical challenges that arise, facilitating timely interventions to keep projects on track.

Technical Expertise and Problem Solving
- Providing Technical Guidance: With strong technical expertise, the Project Engineer offers guidance throughout the project lifecycle, addressing technical issues and providing solutions to challenges that may arise during execution.
- Quality Assurance: The Project Engineer ensures that all technical deliverables meet the highest quality standards and comply with technical specifications. This may involve reviewing work produced by other team members and conducting testing as necessary along with UAT Testing.

Documentation and Reporting
- Maintaining Project Documentation: The Project Engineer is responsible for documenting all technical project activities, including requirements, technical specifications, and any technical changes to the project scope. This documentation is crucial for transparency and future reference. It may also be required for client handover to the Support Teams which offer daily support after the project has completed.
- Progress Reporting: Regular updates on project status are provided to the Project Manager, Professional Services Director and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is informed of progress, challenges, and any necessary adjustments to the project plan.

Continuous Improvement
- Feedback and Iteration: The Project Engineer actively seeks feedback from clients and team members to identify areas for improvement. They implement lessons learned from previous projects to enhance future project execution.
Requirements
- Strong Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of relevant technologies and engineering principles is essential for translating client needs into technical tasks and ensuring quality outcomes.
- Strong emphasis on Firewall installation/configuration;
- Network switch installation/configuration
- Wi-Fi surveys, installation of routers and switches and configuration of same plus AP’s
- Azure Data Centre environments and on-premise infrastructures, contributing to projects that meet high standards of accuracy and compliance while safeguarding client data and security.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure & Office 365
- Proficiency with IT hardware/software
- Knowledge of hypervisors like Microsoft Hyper-V & VMware
- Familiarity with server roles such as Active Directory, SQL, Remote Desktop Services
- Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams is crucial. The Project Engineer must convey technical information clearly and facilitate collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills are necessary for identifying issues and developing effective solutions during the project lifecycle.
- Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail is vital for this role.
