Role Purpose

Support the end-to-end planning, governance and delivery of Network AI and Automation initiatives within a complex telecom transformation programme. The Program Manager will coordinate activities across business, architecture, engineering, data, operations and vendor teams, ensuring that programme plans, milestones, risks, dependencies, financials and delivery commitments are actively managed. The role will provide accurate and timely programme information to the Senior Program Director and wider leadership team, prepare governance and executive reporting materials, and drive the resolution of delivery issues and cross-functional dependencies.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Planning and Delivery

  • Develop and maintain detailed programme and workstream delivery plans.
  • Coordinate programme activities, milestones, deliverables and implementation schedules.
  • Track delivery progress against agreed scope, timelines, budgets and outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment between individual workstreams and the overall transformation roadmap.
  • Support workstream leads in defining delivery commitments, acceptance criteria and completion evidence.
  • Identify schedule variances and coordinate recovery or remediation plans.
  • Ensure programme actions and decisions are documented, assigned and completed within agreed timescales.

Programme Governance

  • Support the establishment and operation of programme governance forums.
  • Organise programme meetings, workstream reviews, steering committees and leadership updates.
  • Prepare agendas, governance packs, meeting materials and decision papers.
  • Maintain programme action, decision, risk, issue, assumption and dependency logs.
  • Ensure governance information is accurate, consistent and submitted within agreed reporting timelines.
  • Escalate material delivery concerns to the Senior Program Director.

Executive Reporting and Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare clear and concise programme status reports and executive presentations.
  • Consolidate updates from multiple workstreams, delivery teams and vendors.
  • Provide visibility of programme achievements, milestones, risks, issues and mitigation actions.
  • Support the Senior Program Director in preparing for senior leadership and steering committee forums.
  • Build effective working relationships with business, technology, operations and vendor stakeholders.
  • Follow up with stakeholders to ensure timely completion of agreed actions and deliverables.
  • Support structured decision-making by providing accurate programme information and analysis.

Risk, Issue and Dependency Management

  • Maintain integrated risk, issue, assumption and dependency trackers.
  • Identify cross-workstream dependencies, delivery blockers and sequencing conflicts.
  • Coordinate owners and actions required to resolve programme issues.
  • Monitor mitigation activities and escalate risks that may affect programme outcomes.
  • Facilitate dependency reviews across business, architecture, engineering, data, operations and vendor teams.
  • Ensure changes to delivery scope, timelines or dependencies are reflected in programme plans and reporting.

Financial and Business Case Tracking

  • Support programme budget planning, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Track actual and forecast expenditure against approved budgets and business cases.
  • Coordinate financial inputs from workstream leads, finance teams and vendors.
  • Identify financial variances and support the development of corrective actions.
  • Maintain evidence of programme benefits, outcomes and value-realisation measures.
  • Support reporting on the business value delivered through AI and automation initiatives.

Vendor and Delivery Partner Coordination

  • Coordinate delivery activities across internal teams, strategic suppliers and delivery partners.
  • Track vendor milestones, deliverables, actions and contractual commitments.
  • Support vendor performance reviews and delivery governance meetings.
  • Identify vendor-related risks, delays or quality concerns and escalate them appropriately.
  • Ensure vendor plans are aligned with the integrated programme plan.
  • Support validation of vendor progress, deliverables and completion evidence.

Required Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in programme management, project management, delivery management or technology transformation roles.
  • Proven experience supporting or managing large-scale technology transformation programmes.
  • Experience coordinating multiple workstreams in a complex delivery environment.
  • Strong experience in programme planning, governance, reporting, risk management and dependency management.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders, programme directors and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrable experience managing cross-functional and multi-vendor delivery.
  • Experience of financial tracking, forecasting, budget governance or business-case management.
  • Experience supporting Data and AI programmes within a telecom network environment would be desirable.
