Role Overview
The School of Design and Creative Arts is looking for a highly motivated Programmes Administrator to join our Postgraduate Research Administration Team. This role supports the administration of Research Postgraduate programmes while managing direct interactions between students, academics, and prospective applicants from enquiry through graduation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive advice and guidance to students, current researchers, and international applicants on degree-related matters
- Manage administrative tasks including degree tracking, timetabling, and registration support for Postgraduate Research students
- Coordinate enquiries via phone, email, and in-person consultations, ensuring seamless communication across academic teams
- Collaborate closely with faculty, IT teams, and external partners to ensure smooth programme delivery
- Maintain accurate records in administrative systems and databases
- Ensure compliance with university policies and academic regulations
- Act as a first point of contact for complex administrative queries and escalate as necessary

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – excellent in explaining policies, procedures, and student concerns
- Proven experience in an administrative or research support role (similar roles in higher education preferred)
- Predictive and problem-solving attitude – ability to manage diverse and often complex scenarios with discretion
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and a customer-focused mindset
- IT proficiency – experience managing databases, student systems, and industry-standard software
- Education requirements: GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
Desirable Attributes
- Background in education, sciences, or creative industries research support
- Familiarity with research degree frameworks (e.g.,IPG) and underlying processes
- Experience with employment eligibility checks or student visas
