Programme and Student Lead (Computer Science)

Programme and Student Lead – School of Computing and AI

An exciting opportunity arises for a Programme and Student Lead to join our School of Computing and AI Team, full-time and permanent, based on our Birmingham Campus.


About the Role

Reporting to the Academic Management Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of delivery for designated Computer Science programmes across our Birmingham, Leeds, London, and Manchester campuses.


Responsibilities

As a Programme and Student Lead (PSL) within the Faculty of Business, Technology and Applied Science (BTAS) and the School of Computing and AI, your role includes:

  • Collaborating with the Campus Management Team to ensure smooth programme delivery and exceptional student experience
  • Managing relationships with academic partners (if applicable) to maintain coordination and quality assurance in delivered programmes
  • Collating and disseminating campus-specific feedback on programme design to drive improvements and revisions
  • Monitoring student experience benchmarks, including:
    • Effective promotion, delivery, and analysis of student surveys
    • Ensuring high standards in all aspects of student interaction
  • Facilitating clear communication between the School of Computing and AI and campus teams
  • During non-management periods, fulfilling Lecturer/Senior Lecturer duties, including:
    • Timetabled teaching across designated locations
    • Module leadership or equivalent responsibilities

Requirements

We seek candidates with the following experience and qualities:

  • Substantial experience in leading and managing the teaching of computing or computer science programmes (particularly at degree or graduate diploma level)
  • Advanced IT literacy with a solid understanding of the digital education landscape
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset, embracing ownership of programme success
  • Senior management experience—proven leadership in either a business or educational setting
  • Deep knowledge of best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment for academic courses or vocational training
