Programme Director
Service Transformation Programme Director
Location: Ideally London (hybrid working), open to remote working for the right candidate
Contract Duration: Initially 6 to 9 months (part of a 2 to 3-year programme)
Rate: £900–£1,000 per day via umbrella
Job Purpose
The Programme Director – Service Transformation is responsible for the end-to-end orchestration, integration, and execution control of the Service Transformation Programme.
Working in close partnership with the Transformation Director (Head of Service Transformation Office), this role ensures the programme is delivered effectively, aligned across multiple workstreams, functions, and geographies. This position translates strategic intent into coordinated execution, ensuring delivery discipline, integration, and transparency regarding performance, risks, and dependencies.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Orchestration & Integration
- Orchestrate execution across all programme workstreams and transformation pillars
- Ensure end-to-end integration across roadmap, change, operations, and technology initiatives
- Manage and optimise interdependencies, sequencing, and critical path at programme level
- Act as the central integration point, ensuring alignment and coherence across all activities
- Translate strategic direction into coordinated execution plans and priorities

Governance & Execution Control
- Design, implement, and operate robust programme governance frameworks
- Ensure consistency, quality, and transparency of programme reporting and performance tracking
- Prepare and structure materials for Executive SteerCo and governance forums
- Support the Transformation Director in executive-level decision-making processes
- Drive early identification, escalation, and mitigation of risks and issues
Delivery Excellence & Performance Management
- Drive high-performance execution discipline across all workstreams
- Ensure adoption of common methodologies, tools, KPIs, and reporting standards
- Monitor delivery performance, ensuring accountability at all levels
- Identify execution gaps and implement corrective actions proactively
- Promote data-driven decision-making and transparency
Value Tracking & Business Case Support
- Consolidate and track benefits realisation across programme workstreams
- Ensure alignment between delivery progress and expected value outcomes
- Identify and escalate risks to value delivery, proposing mitigation actions
- Support the Transformation Director and Finance in value governance and reporting
Stakeholder Alignment & Communication
- Engage senior stakeholders across functions, markets, and regions
- Ensure alignment at programme execution and delivery level
- Act as the bridge between execution teams and leadership
- Support development of executive communications, insights, and decision materials

Knowledge
- Advanced programme management expertise (e.g., MSP, PMI, SAFe, or equivalent)
- Strong governance, risk, and dependency management capabilities
- Solid understanding of:
- Service transformation and operating models
- Change management practices
- Business case tracking and performance management
Skills
- Strong execution leadership and delivery focus
- Ability to manage complexity and interdependencies at scale
- Excellent stakeholder alignment and influencing skills
- Structured, disciplined, and data-driven approach to delivery
- High-level accountability and ownership for outcomes
Experience
- Extensive experience in leading complex, multi-workstream programmes
- Proven track record in large-scale business or service transformation environments
- Experience operating in global, matrixed organisations
- Strong background in programme orchestration, integration, and governance
- Experience working closely with executive sponsors and senior leadership teams
