Programme Director – Corporate Bank & Private Client / Private Bank

About the Role

We are seeking to hire two Programme Directors:

  • 1x Programme Director for Corporate Bank
  • 1x Programme Director for Private Client / Private Bank

These are pivotal strategic leadership positions focused on:

  • Portfolio prioritisation & execution
  • Large-scale programme mobilisation
  • Embedding delivery discipline

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Programme Oversight & Control

  • Prioritisation & Strategic Alignment

    • Lead stakeholder-informed prioritisation of programmes/projects, ensuring alignment with business strategy and optimal resource allocation.
    • Balance competing initiatives with clear trade-off decisions backed by data.
  • Performance Governance & Control

    • Provide consolidated oversight of delivery, including:
      • Financial management (budgets, cost controls)
      • Risk/issue trends and escalation protocols
      • KPI/performance tracking to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Portfolio Roadmap Development

    • Translate high-level business objectives into phased initiatives, aligning sequencing, interdependencies and resource scope.
  • Multi-Stream Programme Execution

    • Mobilise large-scale, integrated incentive streams by:
      • Roadmapping dependencies and resolving cross-team conflicts
      • Driving active problem-solving and operational momentum.

Advisory, Enablement & Delivery Support

  • Stakeholder Facilitation

    • Support stream leads in critical workshops:
      • Planning sessions
      • Risk/issue discussions
      • Cross-team alignment meets.
  • Strategic Advisory

    • Contribute expertise to target operating models
    • Governance structures
    • Optimise programme cadences and delivery flow.
  • Actionable Decision Support

    • Produce "early-stage innovation insights" (options analysis, scenarioブレインストーミング).
    • Enable resolution blockers, clarify ownership escalation routes.

Delivery Culture & Continuous Improvement

  • Operate in a collaborative ecosphere:
    • Maintain alignment to strategy + client needs via:
      • Clear backlog management
      • Transparent risk awareness and escalation
    • Drive improvement in:
      • Programme rhythms with Execution Health Reviews
      • Effective governance frameworks (RAID logs).

  • Time & Materials Discipline
    • Ensure value alignment in T&M engagements
    • Allocate resources to optimise central and federated execution streams efficiently.

Stakeholder Management

  • Senior Leadership Support
    • Serve as trusted advisor to Executive Leadership (ExCo/SteerCo) by:
      • Providing clear campaign trade-offs
      • Leading executive briefings and progress summaries.
  • Diverse Client Engagement
    • Foster relationships across business/IT/operations teams.

Team Leadership & Capability

  • Community Development
    • Coach junior programme managers and embed best-practice delivery behaviours.

Core Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Mandatory Attributes & Compliance

  • Demonstrated integrity, unconditional adherence to Investec’s Consumer Duty principles and fair customer treatments.
  • Proven regulatory knowledge applicable to the role (compulsory).
  • CoachingAssessment expertise (for roles with people-management responsibilities).

Technical Proficiencies

  • Strategic Alignment Mastery: Balance competing initiatives to realise value across the portfolio.

  • Programme Shaping & Recovery expertise in either:

    • Corporate Bank & Private Client areas.
  • Operational Guiding

    • Deep governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement experience.
    • Skilful facilitation and navigating centralised/federated matrix environments.
