Why the Role Matters: Providing interventions to individuals who engage in harmful behaviour to help reduce their likelihood of reoffending is central to our work in HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS). [Accredited Programmes] aim to equip participants with skills and positive behaviours, enabling them to lead crime-free, constructive lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver [Accredited Programmes] and Structured Interventions to individuals with diverse backgrounds and offending histories.
- Lead sessions on areas such as:
- Emotional management
- Problem-solving
- Assertive communication
- Thinking skills
- Social and relationship skills
- Use knowledge of group dynamics and probation needs to tailor sessions.
- Apply prosocial modelling to reinforce positive behaviour and challenge harmful attitudes.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues who share a mission to provide high-quality support to probationers. Contribute to feedback and guidance for wider teams, including:
- Probation Practitioners
- Domestic Abuse Safety Officers
Training & Support: Training for the role is fully funded. You’ll receive:
- Reflective supervision
- Regular feedback from Programme Managers
- Input from Treatment Managers
- Performance-based learning and development
Responsibilities:
Core Duties:
- Master [Accredited Programme and Structured Interventions Manuals] and groupwork principles in Populations & Criminal Behaviour Masterclass.
- Facilitate sessions for groups or individuals, debriefing sessions to gauge impact.
- Monitor participant progress, provide tailored feedback, and record updates across systems.
- Collaborate with the team to meet performance targets and uphold programme integrity.
- Assist Treatment Managers by contributing to risk and target assessments.
External & Protective Measures:
- Engage with Probation Practitioners, Domestic Abuse Safety Officers and agencies on progress, risk, and safeguarding matters.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures to protect vulnerable participants.
Hours & Travel:
- Individuals must work up to 3 ‘unsociable’ sessions weekly (evenings & Saturdays).
- Evening hours are mandatory due to the scheduled delivery of programmes.
- Travel to varying locations is required.

Compensation & Benefits:
Starting Salary: £28,064 per annum
Additional Payments:
- 30% unsocial hours premium for weekends worked
- 50% weekend premium
Annual Progression:
- Competency-Based Framework (CBF) supports salary growth over time.
- Pay scaling in line with Civil Service pay guidelines.
Job Overview:
The role will consist of delivering rehabilitation interventions to:
- Offenders with varied offence histories.
- All risk levels, including offenders convicted of sexual and domestic abuse offences.
Core Objectives:
- Reduce repeat offending while proteger les communautés.
- Guide rehabilitation to enable community-based meaningful lives.
You will report directly to a:
- Programme Manager
- Deliver interventions across broad regions where travel is required.
Additional Key Duties:
Ongoing Accountability:
- Track progress, risk and wellbeing of participants throughout interventions.
- Maintain precise records and relay insights to teams.
Court Coordination:
- Collaborate with the courts and criminal justice system for effective sentence implementation.
Teaching & Guidance:
- Conduct workshops and educate probation staff and external stakeholders.
- Manage challenging behaviors in groups through structured complimentary guidance.
Training & Probation:
- Comprehensive 6-month training programme for new recruits.
- Ongoing supervision via Programme Managers.
- Attend assessment centres and achieve a minimum established training rating.

Salary Summary:
Starting Pay: £28,064
Additional Pay:
- 30% premium evenings
- 50% premium weekends

Base Location: NPS ST CLEMENTS HOUSE, BASINGSTOKE, RG21 7SB
Regional Reach:
- Regional-based role. Requires travel to multiple sites.
Required Hours:
- Required work evenings and weekends - up to 3 'unsociable' sessions/week.
