Programme Facilitator - Southampton (South Central) Outcome in a Day (Ref: 19724)

Job Title: Programmes Facilitator Location: NPS TOWN QUAY HOUSE, SOUTHAMPTON – SO14 2PT

Overview of the Role

As a Programmes Facilitator, you will deliver rehabilitation interventions aimed at changing the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviour of people on probation, covering offenders with various offence types and risk levels (including those convicted of sexual and domestic abuse offences). The main objectives include:

  • Reducing re-offending.
  • Protecting the public.
  • Preventing future victims.
  • Supporting offenders in building constructive, meaningful lives in the community through effective evidence-based Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions.

The role is regionally-based within the Interventions Team and reports to the Programme Manager. Travel across the region is required.

  • Typically requires working on unsocial hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Scaled with salary and pay progression adhering to Civil Service Pay guidance.

Responsibilities

Core Role

  • Deliver accredited programmes and structured interventions to diverse groups.
  • Cover areas such as:
    • Emotional management
    • Problem-solving
    • Assertive communication
    • Thinking skills
    • Social and relationship skills

Session Development & Management

  • Plan, deliver, and debrief sessions, adapting to group dynamics and individual needs.
  • Reinforce prosocial behaviour and challenge anti-social attitudes.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with treatment managers to assess risk, protective factors, and treatment targets.
  • Liaise with probation practitioners, domestic abuse safety officers, and external agencies.
  • Share information to manage risk projections, needs assessment, and support progression.

Monitoring & Documentation

  • Monitor and record participant progress on systems.
  • Manage performance targets and programme integrity.

Support & Safeguarding

  • Safeguard children and vulnerable adults in line with relevant policies.

Evening Deliveries & Travel

  • Majority of interventions conducted in evenings, often at different locations.
  • Travel expenses are claimable.

Requirements

Key Competencies

Required qualifications/training:

  • Training in delivering groupwork programmes as outlined in Accredited Programmes & Structured Interventions Manuals.
  • Able to:
    • Lead sessions (independent/group work).
    • Monitor participant progress and record feedback on relevant systems.
    • Work collaboratively in teams to meet targets and programme standards.

Skill Suitability

  • Prosocial modelling abilities.
  • Strong group dynamics awareness and complex needs evaluation.
  • Focused approach towards risk assessment in line with criminal justice expectations.

Expectations

  • Work evening shifts up to 3x per week with possible weekend commitment.

Role Training & Development

Full training for Programme Facilitator role is provided:

  • 6-month probationary training.
    • Including assessments (portfolio, module training, attendance).
    • Primarily sessions on accredited programme delivery and related theory. Completed training is required to become operational and competent in delivering sessions.

Supervision Support:

  • Regular reflective supervision by programme managers.
  • Feedback from treatment managers.

Salary & Benefits

Base Salary

  • £28,064 per annum (new entrants).

Payment Allowances

  • Unsocial hours allowance: Payment for evenings (30%) and weekends (50%).

Pay Promotion & References

  • Civil Service annual pay progression via Competency Based Framework (CBF).
  • Payscale updates align with Civil Service Pay guidance.

Location & Commitments

  • Office Base: NPS TOWN QUAY HOUSE, Southampton, SO14 2PT (though majority of work requires travel).
  • Evening and weekend sessions are standard; preferred background includes adaptability to meeting deadlines at variable times.
