About The Role
About the role
Are you passionate about making a measurable difference? We have an exciting opportunity for an Integrated Delivery Services (IDS) Programme Manager within our Asset Directorate. This pivotal role will lead the successful delivery of outputs aligned to our ambitious company objectives, bringing together people, partners, and programmes to provide a reliable and resilient water supply for our customers.
You will oversee a multi-million-pound capital investment programme across all geographies, focused on high-priority business outcomes. Located at Sandon Valley House, Chelmsford, Essex, the role will provide matrix-style leadership to all IDS Project Managers based in the region, aligning priorities, strengthening delivery consistency, and enabling effective regional decision-making across the strategic network aspects of the water supply model.
You will champion the IDS ethos by driving safe, lean, agile, and predictable delivery. Through visible and values-led leadership, you will create the conditions for high-performing teams to thrive, embedding innovation, continuous improvement, professional discipline, and clear accountability across the programme.
Using deep technical and programme insight, you will shape projects at a foundational stage to optimise delivery efficiency and maximise programme benefit realisation. You will lead the commercial approach through all phases of the programme lifecycle, including substantial contracts or multiple smaller contracts, ensuring ecosystem partner activities meet company quality standards, satisfy legislative and regulatory requirements, and are delivered safely so everyone goes home safe every day.
At NWG, we are committed to delivering an unrivalled customer experience for internal and external customers. You will set a best-in-class standard for stakeholder engagement and communication, ensuring stakeholders are informed, aligned, and supported by effective measurement, monitoring, and proactive action that drives continuous improvement.
About You
If you have the leadership capability and ambition to build a high-performing IDS team—where people thrive, grow, and deliver value—we want to hear from you. This role requires an understanding of the source-to-tap water supply model, how assets interact within it, and how strategic network decisions influence programme outcomes. Applying this knowledge will enable the business and programme area to progress at pace, using critical thinking and complex problem-solving at the earliest stages of project development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
