Join a fast-growing company with a purpose! At Fastned, you will actively contribute to accelerating the transition to electric mobility. Together with over 450 colleagues (more than 50 nationalities) across 10+ countries, we have big plans: we are building a Europe-wide network of 1,000 beautiful fast-charging stations where electric drivers can charge their cars with energy from the sun and wind. Our UK team alone has grown to over 50 people, who cannot wait to meet you. We have recently been voted best charging network in the UK, France, and the Netherlands, a testament to our drive to offer the best charging experience to EV drivers!
Your Role
Fastned is building one of Europe's most ambitious EV charging networks, and the UK is a critical growth market. As Programme Manager: Grid & Consents, you will lead the delivery of grid connections, utility diversions, highway consents, and landlord agreements across our UK charging station deployment — playing a pivotal role in getting sites open on time and to the highest standard.
You will be a core member of the UK Construction team — a group of nine — while working daily with the wider UK team, including colleagues across expansion, location design, and legal. As a senior member of the team, you will own the critical path across a significant and growing pipeline, managing schedules, mitigating risks, and providing clear and actionable reporting.
Stakeholder management will be central to your success. You will lead engagement with landlords, DNOs, IDNOs, third-party landowners, and highway authorities, and will need to be a natural relationship builder and a strong negotiator with the ability to influence at a senior level — someone who pursues grid operators and key stakeholders with commitment to keep projects moving.
Based in London, you will report to the Senior Construction Lead.
Your Core Responsibilities
- Owning the grid, utilities, and consents works programme, setting realistic but ambitious milestone dates and delivering against them.
- Owning landlord relationships throughout project delivery and collaborating with our legal team to deliver substation leases and cable easements.
- Managing the delivery of utility diversions and build-over agreements.
- Leading commercial negotiations with IDNOs and third-party landowners to deliver our grid connections.
- Overseeing the delivery of highway consents and managing relationships with highway authorities and other key stakeholders.
- Mentoring more junior project managers delivering grid, utilities, and consents work.
- Managing external consultants, including reviewing deliverables, challenging decisions, and ensuring outputs meet quality, programme, and commercial requirements to keep sites opening on time.
- Embedding a culture of continuous improvement — identifying lessons from Fastned's delivery and applying them consistently across the UK pipeline.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We Are Looking For
You thrive in complex, fast-moving environments and enjoy working with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. As an experienced project or programme manager, you know the construction and grid world well enough to challenge decisions, hold stakeholders accountable, and stay ahead of issues before they become delays. You are energised by challenges rather than deterred by them — someone who sees a complex situation as something to be solved, gets stuck in, and gets things done. You understand a client's role in project delivery but are equally comfortable getting hands-on and delivering the work yourself. You bring structure and momentum to complex programmes — and the people skills to bring others along with you.
You will also bring:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and construction or the EV sector
- A commercial, analytical, and solution-focused mindset with a real drive for complex challenges.
- The ability to connect and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outstanding results.
- Exceptional communication skills with a proactive and energetic approach.
- Strong negotiation expertise to deliver favourable commercial agreements.
- Experience working with legal contracts, grid connections, utilities, and consents.
- The confidence to own your workload independently, while being a collaborative and supportive presence for the team — including mentoring more junior colleagues.
- A passion for accelerating the energy transition and creating a greener future.
A bonus if you also bring:
- A qualification or practical experience in electrical design, particularly at high-voltage, is a great advantage.
Even if you do not tick every box, we still want to hear from you.
