Interim Director – Workday Centre of Excellence & Service Transition 📍 UK Based | Hybrid
📅 6–12 Month Contract

The Opportunity

We are supporting a major organisation undertaking a significant Workday transformation across HR, Finance and Professional Services.

As the programme moves towards deployment, we are seeking an experienced Workday leader to establish the long-term operating capability that will support the platform after go-live.

We are looking for someone who has successfully transitioned Workday into live service, built Workday operating models, established Centres of Excellence, and led the selection and mobilisation of AMS providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Workday Centre of Excellence (CoE)

  • Design and establish the Workday Centre of Excellence.
  • Define organisational structures, ownership, governance and support responsibilities.
  • Create the long-term roadmap for Workday support and optimisation.
  • Build sustainable capability across HR, Finance and Technology teams.

Workday Target Operating Model (TOM)

  • Define and implement the future-state Workday operating model.
  • Establish clear ownership across internal teams and external providers.
  • Create governance, decision-making and accountability frameworks.
  • Develop support, service management and continuous improvement models.

Service Transition & Operational Readiness

  • Lead the transition of Workday from programme into Business as Usual.
  • Define Service Introduction, Service Acceptance and Operational Readiness processes.
  • Ensure successful knowledge transfer, support documentation and runbook creation.
  • Manage Hypercare planning and transition into steady-state support.

AMS Strategy & Supplier Management

  • Lead the sourcing, selection and onboarding of a Workday AMS provider.
  • Define retained versus outsourced support responsibilities.
  • Establish supplier governance, performance management and service reporting.
  • Ensure effective knowledge transfer from implementation partners.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience establishing or leading a Workday Centre of Excellence.
  • Experience designing Workday Target Operating Models.
  • Successful track record transitioning Workday into BAU support.
  • Experience selecting, mobilising and managing Workday AMS providers.
  • Strong knowledge of Service Introduction, Service Transition and Operational Readiness.
  • Experience across Workday HCM and Financials environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, operating comfortably with CIOs, CFOs, CHROs and Programme Directors.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, governance, change and release management.
