Overview

As Programme Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in bringing that ambition to life, leading strategic Property programmes that shape where and how we operate. From new store openings and refits to innovative formats and estate optimisation, you'll work with teams across the business to deliver complex programmes that create great experiences for our customers while driving commercial success.

Key responsibilities

Programme Management

  • Manage the successful delivery of multiple Property programmes and strategic projects from initiation through to implementation.
  • Develop and maintain integrated programme plans, ensuring milestones, dependencies and critical paths remain visible and effectively managed.
  • Drive programme delivery against agreed objectives, proactively managing scope, priorities and competing demands.
  • Ensure programmes remain aligned to wider business strategy and Property objectives.

Governance & Assurance

  • Establish and maintain effective programme governance, ensuring robust controls are in place throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Produce high-quality governance documentation, Board papers and executive presentations to support investment decisions, programme approvals and business updates.
  • Monitor programme performance through appropriate reporting, providing clear insight into delivery, risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Maintain programme RAID logs, ensuring actions are owned and progressed appropriately.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across Property and the wider business to ensure successful programme delivery.
  • Facilitate effective governance forums, steering groups and programme reviews.
  • Influence decision making by presenting clear recommendations supported by robust analysis.
  • Ensure programme communications are timely, consistent and appropriate for different audiences.

Commercial & Operational Delivery

  • Balance customer impact, operational requirements, cost and programme timelines to maximise business value.
  • Identify opportunities to improve programme efficiency, delivery performance and return on investment.
  • Support capital investment governance by providing accurate programme forecasting and reporting.
  • Ensure programme decisions consider both immediate delivery and longer-term business objectives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously review programme governance, processes and ways of working to improve efficiency, consistency and delivery performance.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, remove waste and embed best practice across the Property function.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning and innovation.
  • Share knowledge and lessons learned to strengthen programme capability across the wider team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering complex programmes or projects within a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Strong programme governance, planning and risk management experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including experience working with senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed commercial decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience preparing executive-level reports and Board papers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Project (or equivalent planning tools).
