About the Role
General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea designs avionic mission computing systems for military fast jets, helicopters, and UAVs. Our recent developments include the next generation of Advanced High-Performance, Safety-Critical Mission Computer Systems required for cutting-edge military platforms.
We are seeking a Programme or Senior Programme Manager to join either our avionic or naval teams, leading projects through Bid, Development, Production, and Support phases.
Key Responsibilities
As a Programme or Senior Programme Manager, you will:
- Manage all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring schedule milestones, cost targets, and performance standards are met while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Execute projects end-to-end, with accountability for project performance metrics
- Act as primary point of contact for customers, managing expectations and ensuring satisfaction
- Identify and pursue follow-on business opportunities across company product lines
- Participate in bid management, coordinating cost estimates and proposal generation for new and existing business
- Achieve financial targets (e.g., Bookings, Billings/Cash, EBIT), meet Statement of Work (SOW) requirements, and ensure On-Time Acceptable Delivery (OTAD) goals are met
- Oversee key performance indicators such as project financial performance, timeline adherence, customer satisfaction ratings, and business development

Qualifications & Experience
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong programme management experience, preferably with defence industry background.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience managing development contracts throughout the project lifecycle
- Strong understanding of engineering, production, and manufacturing processes
- Proven success in high-technology, high-regulation environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, commercial/technical acumen, and judgement

Desirable:
- APMP qualification in programme management
- Defence-centric programme experience
Additional Information
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: £50,560 to £80,000 (dependant on relevant experience and knowledge)
