📍 Location: Longbridge, B31 2TSSalary: £30,000 plus excellent benefits (Permanent, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 37.5 hours/week)

Progression Job Coach – Empowering Workforce Impact

As a Progression Job Coach within our Employment, Skills and Enterprise team, your role will be hands-on and transformative. You’ll partner directly with Restart scheme participants to overcome barriers and facilitate their transition into sustainable, fulfilling employment. Your support will directly improve individual lives, strengthen communities, and drive meaningful progress.

Your work will focus on trust-building, tailored coaching, and practical development, ensuring participants gain the confidence and skills needed to thrive in the workplace.


Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Meeting performance targets: Deliver against metrics, KPIs, and customer service standards with accountability.
  • Assessing and planning: Conduct thorough needs assessments and develop personalised action plans for caseload participants.
  • Coaching for success: Use a variety of coaching strategies to enhance participants’ confidence, employability skills, and job readiness.
  • Practical support: Assist with CV writing, job application guidance, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Employer engagement: Build relationships with employers to identify aligned employment opportunities, ensuring matches reflect participants’ capabilities and aspirations.
  • Wraparound support: Offer flexible signposting to specialist services, resources, and internal tools as required.
  • Record-keeping: Maintain accurate, detailed records of all participant interactions and progress.
  • Compliance adherence: Operate within the Delivery Assurance Framework, meeting contractual and compliance standards.
  • Team collaboration: Ensure continuity of service by collaborating across teams, especially during periods of absence or transition.
  • Additional duties: Perform any further tasks commensurate with the role’s responsibilities.

Does This Role Fit Your Profile?

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Experience in coaching, influence, and facilitation through positive behavioural change.
  • A genuine passion for helping others overcome challenges and achieve growth.
  • Background in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), education, or employability support.
  • Strong track record in performance-driven environments with accountability.
  • Qualifications: Level 3 IAG, teaching, or equivalent—or commitment to pursuing one.
  • Local labour market knowledge and awareness of recruitment trends.
  • Competency in IT applications: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect across teams.
  • Robust organisational and time-management skills, prioritising workload effectively.
  • High standards in accuracy, quality, and integrity.

Vetting and Checks

  • Standard DBS check (including spent and unspent convictions/cautions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).
  • Occupational Health Questionnaire to ensure suitability for role-related demands.
