Production Accountant (Full-Time, 1 Day WFH)
Sector: Content Production Agency Location: Kings Cross, London Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Reference: VFR3302
About the Role
VisionFR are recruiting a Production Accountant for a content production agency. This role is critical to event and production operations, focusing on delivering accurate, timely project finance management and ensuring seamless financial processes. The accountant will support UK operations while collaborating closely with the US Finance Assistant to maintain compliance and accurate company records.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Project Reconciliations: Work closely with production teams to ensure on-time budget updates, reconciliations, and clear reporting.
- Project Cost Management: Track supplier costs meticulously, record third-party expenses promptly, and facilitate accurate payments.
- Revenue Management:
- Accurately invoice clients.
- Maintain deferred revenue records.
- Prepare monthly journals for fee recognition (as directed by the Finance Director).
- Cashflow Forecasting:
- Update project cashflows to inform group forecasts.
- Manage currency exposures, working capital risk, and FX transactions.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Supplier Onboarding: Oversee setup with correct divisional structuring, compliance documentation, and tax/bank details.
- Payables Accounting:
- Process payments via Lightyear software, integrating with QuickBooks.
- Handle credit card (American Express), PLEO card posting, and AP flex.
- Payment Runs:
- Generate and submit timely payments through banking systems.
- Liaise with the US Finance Assistant on international payments.
- Monthly Reconciliations: Reconcile payables, clear bank charges, and manage small FX balances.

Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Client Onboarding: Assist production teams in setting up client accounts, ensuring compliance with payment and tax requirements.
- Receivables Accounting:
- Issue accurately translated invoices.
- Execute a polite dunning process for overdue payments.
- Payment Processing:
- Daily bank posting of client funds and escalate discrepancies to production teams.
- Monthly Reconciliations: Reconcile receivables, including bank charges and FX balances.
Intercompany & Treasury Management
- Intercompany Transactions:
- Process all payments and chargebacks between legal entities.
- Intercompany Reconciliation:
- Conduct monthly reconciliations with the US Finance Assistant.
- Verify correct allocation of fees and payments.
- Cash Management:
- Update weekly cash balance worksheets.
- Monitor working capital and client funds.
- FX Management:
- Apply FX policies, hedging strategies, and rate booking to minimise exposure.
- Treasury Moves:
- Action deposit moves to maximise interest rates.
- Record income in QuickBooks.
Software & Process Support
- Champion in-house tools: Support the development of Filemaker software, run tests, and ensure fit-for-purpose functionality.
- Year-End & Monthly Closing: Assist the Finance Director with revenue recognition, prepayments, and accruals.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with production teams and Finance Director to enhance operational workflows.

Key Skills & Requirements
- Strong communication skills (both written and spoken).
- Ability to build trusted relationships across departments while providing consistent, reliable financial support.
- Preferred: Experience with QuickBooks and PLEO.
- Cashflow and purchase ledger expertise within finance.
- Prior experience in a similar role within a creative/media agency.
- Highly self-motivated, organised, and detail-oriented—able to prioritise tasks (e.g., around bank cutoffs).
- Adaptable with the ability to manage changing priorities and high-pressure deadlines.
- Strong analytical and proverbial skillset to navigate complex spreads and financial systems.
- Capacity to handle disputes, audits, and exceptional queries with clients, suppliers, and the US office.
