Project Accountant

Location: Belfast

Business Unit: Integrated Airspace Protection Systems (IAS)

Our purpose is to protect and defend — creating integrated solutions that bring together insight, coordination and decisive action. We respond rapidly with systems that support detection, fire control, engagement and mission sustainment. Our expertise spans Surface Attack & Air Defence (UK), Air Defence (International), Air Operations & Services, and Space.

We’re looking for a Project Accountant to join our Belfast-based finance team. You’ll manage your own portfolio of key projects, supporting financial performance across the IAS UK footprint.

This is a broad, rewarding role where your insight will directly influence programme success and strengthen financial integrity across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead financial reporting for your project portfolio, including monthly review packs, cost analysis and corrective actions.
  • Prepare consolidated project reports, monthly finance reviews and rolling forecasts.
  • Partner with project stakeholders — Project Managers, Product Accountants and Industry Managers — to support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to understand product evolution and integrate financial insight into production planning.
  • Fulfil SSRO reporting requirements, identifying control weaknesses and assessing commercial impacts.
  • Prepare contract estimates for Multi-Year Budget cycles and monthly forecasts.
  • Enhance financial systems by developing reporting tools and dashboards (Oracle, Digi dashboards, BI portals).
  • Maintain financial integrity across UK GAAP and Chorus 2.0, escalating governance issues where needed.
  • Support audit readiness through accurate data, documentation and process adherence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
