Project Accountant – Edinburgh


Salary Range

£53,269 – £60,000

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. This range reflects the approved band for this role (or a narrower range within it), benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions are managed via governance to protect internal equity.


Your Impact

Leonardo is an international leader in electronic and information technologies for defence systems and aerospace. Join us as a Project Accountant in Edinburgh—a role blending home-based flexibility with onsite work (at least 2 days/week).

As part of an integrated project team and Edinburgh Finance Team, you’ll:

  • Manage financial reporting and management information for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and actionable insights for project teams.
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-paced sector, contributing to innovative global solutions with statutory and high-value procurement support.
  • Areas of focus:
    • Database collection, processing, and reporting for project banking and financials.
    • Supporting the Financial Controller with monthly forecasts, assumptions, and CSRs (Contract Status Reports).
    • Advising on financial performance via monthly forecasts and business planning.
    • Collaborating with project teams/budget holders on forecasts, investments, and business plans.
    • Assisting Sector Programme Manager and VP during monthly reviews.
    • Contributing financial insights to bid processes.
    • Reconciling financial discrepancies and enforcing procedures/controls.
    • Proactively improving processes and efficiencies across Finance teams.

What You’ll Bring

Experience:

  • AAT-qualified or part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA) desirable.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition advantageous.

Skills:

  • Strong communication—ability to engage with Finance and non-Finance colleagues, tailoring support to their needs.
  • Analytical mindset: Proactively challenge decisions within project teams.
  • Proactive and adaptable, adept at reprioritising to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel expertise + SAP knowledge (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Enthusiasm to contribute to projects/contracts.
