  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Salary: £28,860 per annum
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Rolling rota (5 days out of 7, including weekends)

About the Role

As a Project Assistant at Riverside, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day running of our supported housing services. This role focuses on the safety, wellbeing, and independence of our customers, who may have diverse and complex needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with healthcare providers, social services, benefits teams, emergency services (Police, Ambulance), and other external agencies to address customer needs.
  • Logging incidents to maintain accurate records.
  • Preparing customer rooms for new occupants.
  • Assisting with daily health, safety, and safeguarding procedures.

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a customer-facing environment. Your role requires:

Key Responsibilities

  • Basic administrative and IT skills with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of supporting vulnerable individuals—this may include your own lived experience of homelessness, drug/alcohol addiction, or relevant care work.
  • An ability to work flexibly, independently, and adaptably in unpredictable settings.

Role Details

Supporting Customers

  • Assist in personalised support plans, risk management, and move-on strategies.
  • Empower customers to develop life skills, improve tenancy readiness, and achieve financial independence.
  • Work alongside healthcare professionals to monitor and support customer healthcare needs.
  • Maintain accurate, strengths-based digital records.
  • Promote customer involvement and signpost external services (e.g., food banks, employment support).

Delivering Service

  • Handle referrals, housing management tasks, and rent collection.
  • Maintain a safe environment by addressing repairs, health & safety concerns, and safeguarding risks.
  • Clean accommodation spaces and manage day-to-day administrative duties.
  • Update financial and operational systems (rent accounts, petty cash, records submission).

Additional Responsibilities

  • Precision in maintaining high levels of confidentiality with sensitive customer information.
  • Use the Lone Worker system as required.
  • Adapt flexibly to meet customer demands and office hours beyond standard working times.
  • Work within Riverside’s Policy and Procedure framework (GDPR, cash handling, dignity at work).
  • Engage in continuing professional development and attendance at training, supervision, and team meetings.
  • Occasionally assist with additional duties in consultation with management.

Person Specification

Essential

  • An understanding of barriers faced by vulnerable and diverse groups (e.g., complex needs, trauma-informed care).
  • Experience working in team environments, with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A caring, resilient, and empathetic attitude.
  • A willingness to use initiative, adhere to policies, and act decisively while upholding safety and ethical standards.

Desirable

  • Work or lived experience with homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges.
  • Hands-on experience supporting vulnerable or diverse individuals.
