About The Role
As an Authorised Person (Electrical), you will be responsible for the practical implementation and enforcement of electrical safety rules for systems under your control. You will exercise authority over electrical safety, assess and appoint competent personnel, issue safety documentation, and ensure all electrical work is carried out safely, compliantly, and efficiently.
This is a high-responsibility role with real impact—your decisions will keep both people and equipment safe while supporting critical project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all personnel comply with electrical safety rules and procedures. Exercise sole responsibility for the safe control of electrical systems in your area. Assess, appoint, and supervise Competent Persons (Electrical). Issue, control, and withdraw electrical safety documents in line with procedures. Provide instruction and supervision for the safe operation of electrical equipment. Engage with project teams to ensure safe energisation and operational readiness. Report and escalate unsafe conditions, defects, or dangerous occurrences.

Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of electrical safety rules, permit systems, and isolation procedures. Authority and confidence to enforce compliance in safety-critical environments. Ability to assess competence and manage risk dynamically. Clear communication and assertive leadership skills.
Qualifications & Experience
Completed recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3. City & Guilds 2365 or equivalent; 2391 (Electrical Testing & Inspection) desirable. BS 7671 IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition. Authorised Person training from a recognised provider. First Aid qualification (minimum one-day emergency first aid). Relevant CSCS card. IOSH – Managing Safety. Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite).
