About You
If you’re looking for an opportunity to work in a dynamic and passionate team, where we deliver high quality services to our clients, this role is for you. We are looking for an experienced Project Commercial/Controls Manager to play a key role in our multi-disciplinary consultancy team in the UK.
You will work across projects in a range of infrastructure and built environment sectors covering Engineering, Project Management, Surveying and Compliance services. Ideally you will have experience working within multidisciplinary teams, with a collaborative approach and the ability to support and provide guidance to junior team members.
About the Role
- Supports complex project(s), working under general supervision.
- Ability to prepare various financial reports and provide analysis and recommendations based on findings.
- Requires a proven ability to apply professional concepts in a productive, consistent manner. Maintains records according to generally accepted accounting practices.
- Performs audits and generates special financial reports.
- Manages project budgets, tracks expenditures, and monitors cost performance against approved budgets.
- Conducts variance analysis to identify discrepancies and provides recommendations for corrective actions.
- Reconciles project accounts and ensures accuracy of financial records across multiple cost centres.
- Prepares and delivers financial reports to project stakeholders, management, and external parties with clear explanations of financial performance.
- Ensures compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements specific to project accounting.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and implements efficiency enhancements in accounting procedures and systems.

Skills and Experience
- Business/Accounting/Engineering/Project or Programme Management Bachelors Degree or relevant industry experience with a professional qualification (RICS, MAPM, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- 4-5 years experience of project accounting or commercial management with exposure to project environments
- Demonstrable experience operating in a complex, fast paced business environment.
- Fluent in English
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills are essential
- Ability to manage details but also understand the “big picture”
- Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder communication skills
- Proficient in Excel and project accounting or ERP software and use of tools like Microsoft Project and Primavera
- Identifies and executes initiatives and continuous improvements
- Extensive operations interface and effective collaboration
- Track record in the infrastructure sector with substantial relevant experience
- Experience preparing financial and commercial inputs for projects and fee proposals
- Knowledge of the use of Earned Value Management, Utilisation, Forecasting, Scenario Planning and variance analysis
- Experience of construction or related consultancy
- Experience of scheduling and planning process, including critical path analysis
- Experience in working with the NEC4 suite of contracts, including PSC and ECC desirable
