About The Role

Are you passionate about internal communications and stakeholder engagement? Do you want to play a key role in one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects?

We’re looking for a Project Communications Officer (Internal) to join the Lower Thames Crossing team. You will be responsible for delivering clear, engaging, and impactful communications to project colleagues, helping to embed a ‘one team’ approach, drive productivity, and reinforce key messages across the programme.

This is your opportunity to make a real difference in a high-profile project, working alongside expert teams to ensure internal stakeholders are informed, engaged, and motivated. You’ll help shape the narrative of a project that will transform travel in the region while building your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering effective internal communications, engagement activities, and events to unite the project team and align messages with corporate strategy.
  • Managing project communication channels and maintaining a regular calendar of activity, ensuring all materials are on brand.
  • Keeping communication platforms and content up to date, including SharePoint, digital totems, distribution lists, and presentation packs.
  • Writing case studies, award submissions, and other content to showcase project achievements.
  • Coordinating photography, filming, and internal site visits.
  • Supporting employee recognition initiatives to highlight achievements, behaviours, and operational milestones.
  • Collaborating with National Highways, Balfour Beatty, and subcontractor communications teams to share project successes internally and externally.
  • Ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and data management standards (including GDPR).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
