About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Controller to join our Christchurch Team and play a critical role in ensuring cost efficiency, budget adherence, and successful project delivery. You will work closely with project managers, stakeholders, and the PMO (Project Management Office) to monitor progress, mitigate risks, and drive financial performance.
Responsibilities
Project Financial & Operational Oversight
- Collaborate with the PMO Manager to manage department budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting, ensuring alignment with project and company objectives.
- Develop and maintain cost estimates, business cases, project baselines, and management plans in partnership with project managers.
- Monitor project schedules to ensure timely delivery while adhering to budgets, customer requirements, and deadlines.
Risk & Change Management
- Maintain and update risk registers, issue registers, action registers, and change control registers to ensure proactive management of project dynamics.
- Review bid packs before submission to the sales team to align financial and technical proposals with feasibility.
Reporting & Analysis
- Provide accurate EAC (Estimate at Completion) and budget forecasts to Finance, ensuring transparency and financial discipline.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, cost variances, and efficiency opportunities.
- Generate and update master schedules (task dependencies, resource allocation, progress tracking, and baseline adherence).
- Assist project managers in preparing monthly reporting data and presentation decks for stakeholder reviews.

Operational & Administrative Duties
- Ensure compliance with day-to-day PMO processes, controls, and reporting standards.
- Attend meetings, reviews, and activities as directed by the PMO Manager and deliver against personal KPIs.
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- 2–3 years of project control, project management, or cost management experience, preferably in engineering or aerospace engineering.
- Proven track record in profitability monitoring, budget oversight, and variance reporting for projects valued over £5M.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
- Experience within a Project Management Office (PMO) is highly desirable.
Technical & Software Proficiency
- Essential:
- Proficiency in MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools (task dependencies, resource allocation, baseline tracking).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Syteline) for project financial management.
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, financial modelling, data validation).
- Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
- Desirable:
- Familiarity with PowerPoint for stakeholder presentations.
- Experience with **agile or hybrid project management **approaches.
