About the Role

As a Project Controls professional, you’ll tackle a wide range of challenges across complex railway and infrastructure projects, from initial feasibility through to delivery and operation.


Key Responsibilities

Your role will include (but is not limited to):

  • Supporting the Project Controls function to align with:

    • Schedule Management
    • Cost Management
    • Change Management
    • Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Engaging with the supply base:

    • Ensuring appropriate integration of supplier information
    • Effectively measuring suppliers’ progress
    • Providing timely cost, progress and programming updates
  • Providing technical support for problem-solving across the PM&C portfolio related to:

    • Planning
    • Controls
  • Ensuring best practice project administration is deployed for:

    • Close project control
    • Accurate forecasting
  • Optimising resource planning to achieve:

    • Project commitments
    • Technical staff utilisation
  • Guaranteeing value-for-money delivery, meeting client goals, requirements, cost, and programme targets.


In parallel, you’ll:

  • Support major bids.
  • Collaborate with clients on upcoming projects.
  • Contribute to (and potentially lead) wider business initiatives.

About the Team

Our Project Management & Controls team supports major rail clients, including Network Rail, HS2, and local authorities, on various complex, multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Team composition: Project & Programme Managers, Engineering Managers, and Commercial Management experts.
  • Our working environment is flexible and supportive, focused on:
    • Knowledge-sharing

You’ll work with project leaders to ensure successful multidisciplinary project delivery through robust data and analysis.


Who You Are

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Pathway towards, or current achievement of, chartership (e.g., Chartered or Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body).
  • Preferable experience in client or project delivery (specifically rail, metro, or transport).
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Detail-focused, ensuring high-quality reports and data sets.
  • Experience in a consultancy environment with strong client relationship management.
  • familiarity with Power Query and Power BI (use alongside reporting, planning, or contract management tools) is highly advantageous.
