About the Role

As a Project Controls professional, you’ll work across complex railway and infrastructure projects—from feasibility through to delivery and operation—facing diverse technical, commercial, and people-related challenges.

Key Activities

You’ll support the Project Controls function across multiple projects, aligning with:

  • Schedule Management
  • Cost Management
  • Change Management
  • Risk and Opportunity Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engagement with the supply base, ensuring processes deliver:
    • Appropriate integration of supplier information
    • Measurement of suppliers’ progress
    • Timely provision of cost, progress, and programming updates
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving across the PM&C portfolio regarding planning and controls.
  • Ensure best-practice project administration across the portfolio for accurate forecasting and tight project control.
  • Optimise resource planning to meet project commitments and technical staff utilisation.
  • Implement robust systems and processes to ensure projects deliver value for money while meeting client goals, cost, and programme targets.

Additionally, you’ll:

  • Support major bids and liaise with clients on future projects.
  • Contribute to (or lead) wider business initiatives.

The Project Management & Controls team supports major rail clients across complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Our client base includes Network Rail, HS2, local authorities, and our extensive international project portfolio.

Our team comprises:

  • Project and Programme Managers
  • Engineering Managers
  • Commercial Management experts

We foster a flexible and supportive culture, sharing knowledge and developing talent—both for our team and our clients. You’ll work closely with project leaders, providing robust data and analysis to ensure successful project delivery.


Requirements

We’re looking for a Project Controls Manager with:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (construction, engineering, or project management preferred).
  • A pathway to Chartership (approaching Chartered or Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body).
  • Rail, Metro, or Transport experience (ideally in design or construction) as an advantage.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail for producing, validating, and checking reports and datasets.
  • Consultancy experience, with strong client relationship management skills.
  • Experience with Power Query/Power BI (preferable, alongside reporting/planning/contract management tools).
