About the Role
As a Project Controls Manager, you’ll tackle a wide range of technical, commercial, and people-related challenges across complex rail and infrastructure projects, from initial feasibility through to delivery and operation.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting Project Controls on various projects to align with:
- Schedule management
- Cost management
- Change management
- Risk and opportunity management

Engaging with suppliers and maintaining processes that ensure:
- Appropriate integration of supplier information
- Accurate measurement of suppliers’ progress
- Timely provision of cost, progress, and programming data

Providing technical support and problem-solving across the Project Management & Controls (PM&C) portfolio regarding planning and project controls.

Ensuring best-practice project administration across the PM&C portfolio to achieve:
- Close project control
- Accurate project forecasting

Optimising resource planning to deliver project commitments and technical staff utilisation.

Implementing robust systems and processes to ensure value-for-money delivery, client goal achievement, and cost/programme target attainment.

- Supporting major bids, liaising with clients, and contributing to/wider business initiatives, potentially in leadership roles.
About Our Team
The Project Management & Controls team supports major rail clients on complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Our clients include Network Rail, HS2, and local authorities, as well as various international projects.
Key team roles include:
- Project and Programme Managers
- Engineering Managers
- Commercial Management Experts
We foster a supportive, collaborative environment, sharing knowledge and developing both team members and clients.
You’ll work closely with project leaders to deliver multidisciplinary projects via robust data-driven analyses.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in a relevant discipline
- Pathway to achieving chartered membership (e.g., Chartered Project Manager, Chartered Transport Planner)
- Preferred (though not essential):
- Rail, Metro, or Transport experience (design or construction)
- Client delivery experience
- Proven collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent attention to detail in report and data validation
- Client relationship management skills (especially consultancy environments)
- Experience with Power Query / Power BI (preferable alongside standard reporting/planning/contract management tools)
