About the Role
As a Project Controls professional, you’ll be used to facing a wide range of technical, commercial, people, and project challenges across complex railway and infrastructure projects from initial feasibility through to delivery and operation.
Key Responsibilities
Your core activities will include (but are not limited to):
- Schedule Management
- Cost Management
- Change Management
- Risk and Opportunity Management
Additional key responsibilities:
- Supporting the Project Controls function with alignment across a multi-project portfolio (PM&C).
- Facilitating supply chain engagement, including:
- Integration of supplier information.
- Measurement of suppliers’ progress.
- Timely delivery of cost, progress, and programming reports.
- Providing technical support and problem-solving for planning and controls across the PM&C portfolio.
- Ensuring best practice project administration, enforcing close project control and delivering accurate forecasting.
- Optimising resource planning to meet project commitments and improve technical staff utilisation.
- Implementing robust systems and processes to enhance project delivery value for money and meet client goals, cost, and programme targets.
- Supporting major bids, liaising with clients on future projects, and contributing to (or leading) business growth initiatives.
- Collaborating with project leaders to provide analytical data and insights for successful multidisciplinary project delivery.

Team Environment
The Project Management & Controls team supports major Rail clients—including Network Rail, HS2, and local authorities, as well as a wide international project portfolio. The team comprises:
- Project and Programme Managers
- Engineering Managers
- Commercial Management experts

Requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, construction, project management, etc.).
- A clear path to professional chartership, ideally approaching Chartered/Member status with a relevant body (e.g., APM, ACPM).
- Rail, Metro, or Transport sector experience (design or construction) is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail for report validation and data accuracy.
- Robust client relationship management experience, particularly in consultancy environments.
- Experience with Power Query and Power BI is highly desirable, along with proficiency in analytical/control/planning/contract management tools.
