Lead Client Delivery in a Respected Analytical Laboratory

Purpose and Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech is looking for a Project Coordination Manager to join our highly respected laboratory team in Bedford. This permanent, full-time role sits within the laboratory management team and is central to ensuring client projects are delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed requirements.

Working from purpose-built laboratory facilities with a strong reputation across water, utilities, agrochemicals, defence, food, feed and forage crop analysis, you will manage the overall customer experience and lead a team of Project Coordinators. You will oversee contract delivery, client communication, subcontracted work, reporting, invoicing processes, courier coordination and internal communication with laboratory teams.

Your Impact in this Position

In the short term, you will provide structure, consistency and clear leadership to the sample and project coordination function, ensuring work is scheduled effectively and client updates are timely and accurate.

As you develop in the role, you will help improve team performance, strengthen customer experience and support smoother delivery across a growing laboratory environment. Longer term, this position offers the opportunity to influence process improvement, build management capability and contribute to the continued growth of Tetra Tech’s laboratory services.

Team Leadership and Performance

  • Manage, support and develop a team of Project Coordinators, including performance, absence, schedules, workload priorities and KPI reporting.

Customer Experience And Client Delivery

  • Ensure clients receive a professional, responsive service, with clear communication, accurate updates and swift resolution of queries.

Project Coordination and Change Control

  • Oversee laboratory project delivery, manage actions to completion and ensure effective change control across client work.

Operational and Commercial Awareness

  • Monitor subcontracted work, courier activity, reporting and invoicing processes, with desirable experience identifying chargeable activity or supporting prospective client needs.

Data, Systems and Process Control

  • Work confidently with large datasets in Excel and database formats, maintaining accuracy, attention to detail and effective records.

Skills, Qualifications And Experience

You will bring extensive experience in laboratory, scientific or technical project management, with a strong track record of meeting client requirements in a fast-paced environment. Experience leading teams, making sound decisions under pressure and working both independently and collaboratively is essential.

Previous experience in a laboratory setting and use of LIMS software would be advantageous. Experience managing a support desk or small team, prioritising team workloads and supporting continuous improvement would also be desirable.

Work Patterns and Location

This role is based at Tetra Tech’s Bedford laboratory and follows a fixed working pattern of 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, supporting effective communication with clients and internal teams during core working hours.
