Project Design Engineer

Project Design Engineer (Camfil)

About the Role

At Camfil, we are seeking a capable and innovative Project Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering department. The ideal candidate will handle technical handover to sign-off, including generating drawings for approval and manufacture, creating detailed bills of materials (BOMs), and coordinating purchasing and site works as needed.

This role offers the chance to develop skills in a multinational, multidisciplinary organisation with opportunities for career growth.

Location: Open to based at either Haslingden (UK) or Chomutov (Czechia) plants.


Role Priorities

  • Convert sales order paperwork into a manufacturing & engineering job pack per company procedures
  • Produce:
    • General assembly drawings
    • Detailed fabrication drawings using SolidWORKS
  • Generate bills of materials (BOMs) within the company’s ERP system
  • Serve as a point of contact for:
    • Internal & external customers regarding drawing approval, delivery schedules, technical queries, and issue resolution
    • Sales department in responding to customer enquiries, producing sales drawings, and offering technical solutions
  • Manage projects ranging from equipment supply only to full supply, installation, and site commissioning

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • HNC or higher qualification in an engineering-related field
  • Work experience in:
    • Supply and installation of machinery
    • Sheet metal fabrication

Skills & Proficiencies

  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills for internal/external customers
  • 3D CAD & SolidWORKS expertise (required), with sheet metal design a plus
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and BOMs
  • Technical aptitude for hardware/software, including:
    • MS Office products
    • Electrical wiring
    • Pneumatics
    • Process instrumentation & control
    • Knowledge of CE & ATEX regulations beneficial
